<intro>
The Philadelphia Eagles and former Colts safety Marlin Jackson agreed to terms on a two-year deal on Wednesday.

Jackson will be competing with Macho Harris and Quintin Demps for the starting free safety spot this upcoming season.

"We are going to start him out at free safety," Eagles GM Howie Roseman said. "He has the versatility to play nickel and line up in the slot. He has some size. He's a versatile guy and he's a good football player, so we're going to get him healthy, get him right and then we'll go from there."

Even though with the Colts, Jackson has basically played in a Cover-2 defensive scheme for five years, the Eagles believes that he has all of the tools to make a smooth transition to their defensive scheme.

The Eagles believe that Jackson is a tough and smart football player, and that he is instinctive and quick. They are excited about the signing and believe that Jackson is a leader and that he will help them out defensively

Besides the fact that Jackson has had ACL injuries to both knees the past two seasons, the Eagles received reports from their medical staff that he is ready to go and they are confident and that he was a risk worth taking.

While the Eagles have not made any “splashy” moves so far in free agency, they believe that there are a lot of balls in the air and that there is still a long way to go this off-season. They believe that it is a great draft class and that they will continue to try and improve the football team on a daily basis.
</intro>

    <intro>

I knew it. I knew it all along. I told all of you that the Philadelphia Eagles organization was nothing but a bunch of cheap bastards and now I have my proof.

Recently released RB Brian Westbrook went on Dan Patrick's radio show and called the Eagles cheap. "The thing for them, the Eagles, it's always money. It's always dollar signs," Westbrook said. "If they can find someone to do it a little bit cheaper, they'll go with that guy."

Patrick then followed up with a question about whether it's more important to the Eagles to make money or to win a Championship. "I've seen them go the money route with so many players," Westbrook answered. "I wouldn't know. You'd have to ask someone with the Eagles. With the players winning is the priority. With the management, I would hope winning is the priority, but I don't know that."

I do Brian. The answer is that they would much rather make more money than win a Championship. We have a decade and a half of proof from this ownership that they don't value winning over profit. Sure they would like to win, but only under their strict guidelines.

They will only spend as much as team president and "capologist" Joe Banner determines is the correct amount. They will only sign certain players. And they insist that their way of doing things is superior to all others. The only problem is that their way of doing business in the NFL hasn't produced a Lombardi Trophy yet and that's all that matters.

OK, that's not all that matters......to them. They only want to win if they can make truckloads of money as well. Owner Jeffrey Lurie was recently declared a Billionaire, with a "B". That's amazing when you consider that the man never earned a dollar in his life and has no job other than owning an Eagles team that he bought with his family's money. The NFL is a money-making machine, but not all owners simply treat their franchise (fans?) like an ATM machine. Lurie does.

You also need to keep in mind that Westbrook said these things about the Eagles a week after he was released. This wasn't a knee-jerk reaction from a player whose pride was hurt and was looking for revenge. Westbrook was always a loyal company man during his time with the Eagles. He seemed to simply be stating a fact when he spoke to Patrick.

Still don't think the Eagles are cheap? Well then you are either an idiot, a member of the Eagles organization, or you're high on some drugs you bought from Andy Reid's sons. The Eagles rank around 15th among NFL teams in player salary per year over the last decade. In 2009, Forbes ranked the Eagles as the 7th most valuable NFL franchise. It sure seems to me that they're pocketing a large portion of the money. And it apparently seems that way to Brian Westbrook as well.

Now maybe some of you Eagles apologists will finally admit what a bunch of mindless sheep you are. The Eagles are using their fans' loyalty against them. I won't give up my season tickets, because I plan to outlive that fat bastard Reid and the little rich boy who bought the team with mommy's money, Jeffrey Lurie. Outliving them is our only hope for a Championship. You know, because their cheap, just like Brian Westbrook said.

</intro>

    <intro>
Even I didn't think that the Dopes who run the Philadelphia Eagles were this stupid. When will I ever learn?

Apparently the word from the NFL Scouting combine is that the Eagles are going to keep both Donovan McNabb and Kevin Kolb as their quarterbacks next year. Yes, really.

The only good news out of Indianapolis, the site of the Combine, is that the Eagles are actively shopping the most overrated player in the history of sports, Michael Vick.

The Eagles are hoping that a team gives them something for Vick so that they will look a little less stupid. The whole Vick signing produced nothing on the football field, so they're at least hoping to get a mid-round draft pick for him. The most likely suitors for Vick still appear to be the Buffalo Bills, Oakland Raiders and the St. Louis Rams. I don't care what they get for Vick. I just want him gone.

Then that leaves the Eagles with McNabb and Kolb at QB. Both QBs are in the last year of their contracts and both want an extension. Obviously both of them want to start and that can't happen with the Eagles. So why the hell are Andy Reid and the mental midgets that run the Eagles going to keep both of them?

Besides the obvious answer that they're arrogant dopes, I can see only one reason to keep both QBs. That would be that fact that football is a brutal sports and injuries happen all the time. No team in the NFL wants to go into a season with only one good QB. I understand that, I really do. But that doesn't matter with this Eagles team right now.

By letting Brian Dawkins go last offseason and then cutting Brian Westbrook this past week, the Eagles are one of the youngest teams in the entire NFL. In 2009, the Eagles had the 10th youngest roster in the NFL, but they had the 2nd youngest starting lineup in the NFL. And the team figures to get even younger when they are forced to re-tool a defense that got exposed as average at best by the Dallas Cowboys and with Westbrook gone.

With Westbrook gone now, and most of last season to be honest, the Eagles offense is built around young players like WRs DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin and RB LeSean McCoy. They need to rebuild the offensive line again since Jamal Jackson probably won't be recovered from ACL surgery to play in 2010, Stacey Andrews stinks and Shawn Andrews is still crazy.

Throw in the fact that the Eagles 2010 schedule is the 9th toughest in the NFL based on the records of their opponents and I don't see why they are keeping McNabb.

The Eagles are in for a down year in 2010 no matter who the QB is. They failed to beat a single team with a winning record during the 2009 season and their 2010 season looks very challenging. The defense and the offensive line need to be rebuilt....again. And Donovan McNabb's trade value will never be higher than it is right now. He is healthy and still playing at a high enough level to get at least a 1st round draft pick in return.

The Eagles are also helped by the fact that this is a very weak draft for QBs. There are two QB names mentioned as 1st round picks; Sam Bradford and Jimmy Clausen. Well Bradford has a twice injured throwing shoulder that caused him to miss most of least season and Clausen has character issues related to his leadership skills and work ethic. Teams might think twice about handing a guaranteed $30 million to guys with question marks like that.

There are also plenty of teams that are in desperate need of a QB. How can an NFL team go into next season with guys like Brady Quinn (Cleveland), Jamarcus Russell (Oakland), Ryan Fitzpatrick (Buffalo), Chad Henne (Miami), Matt Leinart (Arizona), Matt Moore (Carolina), Alex Smith (San Francisco) or Keith Null (St. Louis) as their starting QB?

By trading McNabb, the Eagles can completely turn the team over to their young players, led by Kolb at QB. It makes perfect sense. The Eagles like to say that you don't have to get bad to eventually win a Championship in the NFL, but that's just not true. No team stays good forever. Eventually you need to rebuild the roster. That time is now for the Philadelphia Eagles.

After watching the Eagles get punched in the face and have their lunch money stolen by the Dallas Cowboys twice in a row to end the 2009 season and their playoffs, I don't see how anybody can come to any other conclusion. This Eagles team that Andy Reid has built just isn't good enough right now. And it won't matter who the QB is, they aren't going to win the Super Bowl in the coming season.

I have seen McNabb prove for the last decade that he is incapable of carrying a team to a Championship. He is a very good QB, but he isn't among the elite, at least not anymore. I can see that since I get to see his mistakes every single week. Maybe another team only focuses on the highlights and thinks that McNabb can do well in their system, since he's such a horrible fit in the West Coast offense. Sorry Andy, but it's true.

And starting Kolb isn't the guaranteed disaster everyone thinks it will be. There are plenty of examples of young QBs coming in and winning right away. Aaron Rodgers is a perfect example of a QB sitting behind a veteran for a few years and then producing when he finally gets his shot.

My advice to the Eagles is simple. Trade Vick for whatever you can get (I'll take a mid-round draft pick and a three-legged dog to be named later for him). Trade McNabb to a QB-hungry franchise that thinks he can still win the big games. And take a chance that you were right about Kevin Kolb being a legitimate NFL starting QB. Then sign a veteran to back up Kolb. AJ Feeley is a favorite of Reid's who knows the system and is available.

Keeping both McNabb and Kolb would represent the Eagles treading water in an ocean of mediocrity. It's time to jump in and either sink or swim with Kolb. The Eagles aren't going to win the Super Bowl this season, but maybe they can in the future with this young core of players. I'm a season ticket holder and I'm willing to live through a down season or two if necessary because I'm tired of being just good. That isn't good enough anymore.
</intro>

    <intro>
This is getting old. Last year the Eagles tried to low-ball Brian Dawkins, possibly the greatest Eagle ever, and lost him in free agency. Now the team has released another one of the all-time greats, running back Brian Westbrook.

OK, I am not going to rip the Eagles here like I ripped them when Dawkins left. That was strictly a situation where they showed what cheap, arrogant bastards they really are. This situation is a little different in that it was obvious that Westbrook had lost a step last season.

I still think Westbrook could have helped the Eagles during the 2010 season, but the team decided otherwise. It would be cynical to suggest that the main reason is that Westbrook is due $7.25 million next year and by releasing him the Eagles don't have to pay him. Of course with this organization, you have to take that into consideration. As a matter of fact, I'm sure it was one of the reasons that they released him. As I said, he isn't the same player that he once was. And he once was one of the best.

Westbrook finishes his Eagles career as the franchise's all-time leader in yards from scrimmage (9,785). He also ranks 2nd in rushing yards (5,995) behind only Wilbert Montgomery and 3rd in receptions (426) behind only Harold Carmichael and Pete Retzlaff. His 68 total touchdowns rank 3rd in team history behind Carmichael and Steve Van Buren. He eclipsed the 100-yard rushing mark 20 times during his career (including playoffs), which is tied for 2nd most in Eagles' history. And he holds the team's single season record for most yards from scrimmage in a season, when he led the entire NFL with 2,104 yards in 2007. He also holds the team record for most receptions in a season, when he had 90 during that same magical 2007 season.

If all that isn't impressive enough, the 3rd round pick out of Division 1-AA Villanova ranks 3rd in the NFL since 2004 with 8,561 yards from scrimmage. Only LaDanian Tomlinson and Steven Jackson had more. He leads all NFL RBs in receptions (380), receiving yards (3,372) and receiving TDs (25) since 2004 as well. In short, he has been the best player of the Andy Reid era. Sorry Donovan, but it's true. Stop pouting.

"Brian is one of the greatest Eagles of all time and he is even a better person and leader," said head coach Andy Reid. "In my mind, there has not been a more versatile running back that the NFL has seen. I had a conversation with Brian this morning to let him know. We wanted to make this move now in order to maximize Brian's chances of landing with another NFL team."

Normally this is where I would rip Reid for being a big fat liar, but not here. I actually think that Reid saw what I saw last season. He saw that Westbrook wasn't hitting the hole as quickly as he once did. He saw that Westbrook didn't have the same burst that he had in his prime. He saw yet another running back whose skills deteriorated quickly in his 30s. That happens all the time in the NFL. Think about Shawn Alexander, Edgerrin James or the recently released LaDanian Tomlinson. It's a fact of NFL life with running backs.

Running backs take a pounding and their bodies don't last as long as most other NFL players. Add to that the fact that Westbrook has had numerous knee and ankle injuries and surgeries and the end was coming up quickly for B-West. It also didn't help that Westbrook suffered two concussions during the 2009 season.

Westbrook's departure leaves the Eagles with LeSean McCoy as the feature back. McCoy rushed for 637 yards with four TDs in 16 games as a rookie in 2009. He showed promise, but he certainly didn't prove that he's ready to carry a franchise. I know Reid never runs the football, but somebody has to line up at running back. The team will most likely resign restricted free agent fullback Leonard Weaver. "You can't stop the Weave." Seriously, without Dawkins and now Westbrook to cheer for, they have to resign Weaver so I can at least yell that at the games. Otherwise it will be 60 minutes of "Run the Damn ball Andy."

I also think Westbrook's release signals the team's willingness to being a youth movement. The organization will never call it a rebuilding year, because they covet their precious public relations image more than anything. Sorry, they covet the truckloads of money they make more than anything else, but they are very conscious of their carefully sculpted image. Guys like me see right through all the lies, but they do seem to have the national media fooled. Anyway, I think this move will lead to another big move.

That move would be trading QB Donovan McNabb and turning the franchise over to QB Kevin Kolb. They will have a 2nd year RB in McCoy, a 2nd year WR in Jeremy Maclin and a 3rd year star WR in DeSean Jackson. If 2010 needs to be a down year while the young players learn to play together, so be it. Nothing, I repeat nothing, can possibly be worse than the way the 2009 season ended. I don't care if the team goes 2-14, as long as those two wins are over the hated Dallas Cowboys. But that's a thought for another article.

This is about one of the greatest players to ever put on an Eagles jersey. Brian Westbrook was a special player in his prime. The unfortunate reality is that he is past that prime. I had hoped that the team would keep him for at least one more year and have him share the carries with McCoy. That isn't what happened.

I won't quote team president Joe Banner, because he is a complete dirtbag who is incapable of telling the truth. He just saw Westbrook's salary and knew he wasn't worth it, even in an uncapped NFL. Hey, maybe they are just cheap bastards.

I will leave you with this quote from Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie: "Brian Westbrook is one of the most electrifying players in the history of the franchise and is certainly one of the most popular. He was personally one of my favorite players to watch each and every Sunday, and his playmaking abilities, leadership and values will be missed."

For once I actually agree with something that someone in the Eagles front office said. Good luck Brian Westbrook. Just please don't sign with the Cowboys. I don't think I could handle that.
</intro>

    <intro>
The Eagles current quarterback situation is like the dating scene and you're a single guy. You're seeing three chicks, but you need to decide on just one.

You tried juggling all three at once for the last year, but it just didn't work out. All three of them weren't satisfied with the situation and you definitely weren't happy with the way things worked out in the end. Something has to give here. At least one has to go and the best thing would probably be for two of the three to go. But then it becomes a question of which one do you want to keep. Let's take a look at the candidates.

Donovan McNabb is the hot one you've been with for years that tantalizes you with gifted abilities, but ultimately let's you down when he just can't produce the desired results. He's also a bit of a "drama queen". Let's call him Pam Anderson. He might look good from the outside, but those of us who have watched him closely realize that he just isn't the right fit for our current situation. McNabb's skill set doesn't work well within an Andy Reid directed offense and Pam's "talents" don't work well with any director. Sure both will lead to some exciting shows, but neither one can produce the golden trophy. McNabb will never hold a Lombardi Trophy and Pam will never hold an Oscar.

McNabb has been pumped up by the media to ridiculous proportions. He can overshadow lesser competition, but he always gets pounded by the big boys. It's all there on the tapes that everyone has seen. When the pressure is on and everything is on the line, McNabb will blow it. Hey, at least Pam proved she doesn't "choke" against the big boys.

I've seen this one before and I'm ready to move on. (We'll keep the tapes though. You know, for old time's sake.)

Then there is Michael Vick. He is the flashy, crazy chick, who you keep around for excitement. Unfortunately, he is all flash on no substance whatsoever. You might like some of that here and there, but you soon realize there isn't enough there for any prolonged success.

He is the ultimate media creation. He has never done anything extraordinary in his chosen profession, yet is lavished with praise for some reason. People look past the things he does wrong simply because of their preconceived notions. Let's call him Lindsay Lohan. She Busted onto the scene, but has completely sagged in recent years after some unfortunate brushes with the law. Sound familiar? Both may have had some talent, but neither one worked at their craft at all. Both are a total waste of flesh.

The supporters only look at the highlights. They are mesmerized by a couple of amazing things that get highlighted or pushed right out there. But once you look deeper, you realize that there is nothing there. No commitment. No drive. No actual talent beyond the physical to produce any meaningful results. It was all just an illusion.

Vick tried to change his tarnished image with a new look, but we saw the same old problems. He just wasn't as good as he was made out to be. He was propped up but he just couldn't deliver on all the promise. Fortunately I have read others who have repeated my prediction that the Oakland Raiders will be dumb enough to get fooled by Vick's latest "act". Somebody can drive him to the airport in a VW Bug.

And finally we have Kevin Kolb. He is the quiet one. The one we don't know much about. He may be good or bad, but we don't have enough to go on just yet to know exactly what we have. He's like Scarlett Johansson, who we first saw in the movie "The Horse Whisperer." You have a sneaking suspicion that there is something great under there, but unfortunately it's has been kept under wraps so far. There is some obvious talent there, but how much exactly?

Kolb got into the second half of a game in 2008, but it was against the Baltimore Ravens' defense. It almost wasn't fair to judge him from just that performance. It was almost as if his abilities got "Lost in Translation".

Luckily we finally got to see something from Kolb in 2009. He got his shot and brought out the "big guns". And now everyone wants to see more. I know I do. Kolb seems to have a natural talent to run Reid's West Coast offense and Johansson has a couple of Natural "talents" herself.

It's time to rid ourselves of the over-hyped media creations that don't produce results. It's time to rid ourselves of all the drama. We don't know exactly what Kolb is capable of, but what we have seen so far looks promising. We already know that McNabb can't get it done and Vick is a joke. It's time to turn the page. We've stayed with McNabb for years without the big payoff. We tried to make it work with the flashy Vick, but he had nothing to offer. It's time to see what we can do with "the quiet one".

Now if we can only get Scarlett Johansson into an Eagles Cheerleader outfit then the fanbase would really have a reason to stand up and cheer.
</intro>

    <intro>
Michael Vick expects to be a better quarterback in his 30s than he was in his 20s – no matter where he ends up playing in 2010.

Vick (www.michaelvickzone.com), ostensibly still a quarterback with the Philadelphia Eagles until he is moved, as expected, told an Atlanta radio station Wednesday that he has lots of regrets from his days with the Falcons. Regrets that don’t involve dog fighting.

Vick apologized for not working hard enough at becoming the quarterback the Falcons needed him to be.

“There was a lot more I could have done off the field and in the film room that could have elevated my game to a different level,” Vick said on 790 The Zone, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “I was complacent at the time, somewhat lazy, and I settled for mediocrity. I thought what I was doing was enough.”

Vick said that in 2010, wherever he ends up playing, he will be a much more dedicated quarterback. He said he expects to be a better player in his 30s than he was in his 20s.

“I want to play my best football up until the age of 34 and 35, and I’m going to put everything into it,” Vick said. “Just imagine what I could have been doing if I really would have been applying myself. That’s a regret I have.”
</intro>

    <intro>
Dick Jauron, former head coach or the Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions, and Chicago Bears, has been hired as the secondary coach of the Philadelphia Eagles according to a person familiar with the negotiations.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Wednesday because the Eagles have not yet officially announced Jauron's hiring.

Jauron was fired by the Bills in November after a 3-6 start. He was 24-33 in Buffalo in over three seasons.

    <intro>
Because the Philadelphia Eagles are in line to pay Michael Vick $5.25 million this year if he stays in Philly, many fans thought it was unlikely the team would keep a guy who spent the majority of his time on the bench in 2009. However, Michael Lombardi of the NFL Network has reason to believe that the Eagles intend to keep him. The move would leave Philly with three starting-quality QB’s on their roster.
</intro>

    <intro>
The Philadelphia Eagles finally got around to officially announcing that Howie Roseman has been named their new GM. On a scale of obvious statements this ranks somewhere between, "The more you drink the better that fat chick looks" and "Yeah, I think there will be a few erectile dysfunction ads during the Super Bowl too."

All kidding aside, this is just another in a long line of moves that this organization has made that guarantees that they will never win a Super Bowl.

By hiring someone who was already in the organization, they have insured that nothing will change. They got the "Yes man" that they wanted and nothing else matters. Well, that's not entirely true. All that really matters to the bastards that own and run the Philadelphia Eagles is how much money they can make. The stadium is full and there is a waiting list that could fill it twice more. That means the Eagles organization is in its "Happy Place" and doesn't want to change anything.

To be fair, we should look at Roseman's qualifications. As a graduate of Fordham Law School, Howie Roseman has the slimy ability to lie to people's faces and make it look sincere. That's the number one priority for anyone working in Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie's front office under team President Joe Banner. The other thing you have to be is supremely arrogant even though you have never won a damn thing. Since Roseman has been with the Eagles for the last eleven years, working directly for Banner, I'll assume he is sufficiently arrogant.

Roseman, 34, doesn't have a traditional background for an NFL GM. Instead of having an NFL pedigree from either coaching, playing or scouting, Roseman spent most of his time over the last eleven years helping Banner with the salary cap. Only in the last year has he moved over into helping former GM Tom Heckert on the player evaluation side. That's right, one whole year of player personnel experience. Yeah, he sounds qualified to me.

This announcement was expected even before Tom Heckert left to take the GM job with the Cleveland Browns. The Eagles did bring in other token candidates to satisfy the ridiculous "Rooney Rule", which requires teams to interview minority candidates for coaching and front office jobs. To satisfy that rule the Eagles interviewed assistant director of pro personnel, Louis Riddick. Riddick is an African American who is a former NFL safety that has been with the Eagles for two years after spending several years working in the personnel department of the Washington Redskins. The only other interview was with Ryan Grigson, who has been with the Eagles for the last six years as the director of college scouting. I hope the Eagles bought Riddick and Grigson lunch during these "interviews" otherwise it was a complete and utter waste of their time.

By only looking in-house, the Eagles missed an opportunity to get unbiased, untainted view of their roster and organization. Someone who hasn't been inside this organization and might bring some new ideas to the table. Someone who, say, has actually won something.

Look, the Eagles way of doing things in their current set-up has produced exactly zero Lombardi Trophies. Nothing else should matter, yet this team is happy with the status quo. That is why they will never win anything as they are currently constituted.

Everybody wants to point out how good Reid does in the draft by pointing to guys like DeSean Jackson, LeSean McCoy and Jeremy Maclin. OK, Jackson is a star, but Reid also drafted WR Freddie Mitchell when Chad Ochocinco, Chris Chambers and Reggie Wayne were available in the draft. His draft record is average at best. He is also solely responsible for the atrocity that the defense has become. Every single player on the Eagles defense was drafted or signed under the current front office set-up.

During Andy Reid's early success with the Eagles, he relied on a dominant defense to win him games with turnovers and great field position. Those defenses were built with players chosen by former coach Ray Rhodes, former GM Tom Modrak and former personnel man Michael Lombardi. They were all shown the door, when Reid was given the title of "Grand Pooh-Bah" of the Eagles. That was when Reid was given final say in all personnel matters, making him the actual GM. Well, Reid does have to listen to Banner tell him who fits into the precious salary cap, so maybe Banner actually decides who they sign. Either way, Banner and Reid have been the constants over the last eleven years that have produced zero Championships. With the hiring of Howie Roseman as the new GM, that organizational structure will remain exactly the same.

I tend to look at this team more as the one that got embarrassed by a legitimate team in the Dallas Cowboys, rather than the won that won 11 games against an endless stream of terrible teams during the regular season. (One win against a team with a winning record, and that 9-7 Falcons team played the Eagles without their starting QB and starting RB).

"I've never been in this role before," Roseman said. "Everyone puts their own little spin on things. Debate and discussion is part of great organizations." Uh, how would you know Howie? The only organization you have ever worked for is the Eagles under Reid and Banner. "Andy makes the final call, but he wants to hear your opinions", Roseman continued. "He doesn't want to hear just yes men."

Did anyone else's "Bullshit Meter" just explode? Roseman's hiring proves that all the Eagles ever want is a "Yes man". Apparently Roseman said that with a straight face, so he's already made the Eagles organization happy. It's too bad the Eagles organization's definition of happy is so vastly different from the real Eagles fans who want and deserve a Championship.

The Eagles will never win anything as they are currently run. The last eleven Lombardi Trophy-less years prove that I'm right.

</intro>

    <intro>
Yes, it's true. I now share a special bond with Philadelphia Eagles QB Donovan McNabb. No, I haven't recently thrown up on the field at Alltel Stadium in Jacksonville. What I did do was have the same Sports Hernia surgery that McNabb had a few years ago. I was even operated on by the same surgeon.

Well that part isn't so unusual, since Dr. William Myers is the surgeon who does all of the sports hernia surgeries on athletes, like McNabb and me. Myers is a Philadelphia surgeon who discovered this injury and developed the procedure to repair it. That's the reason you've only heard about this injury in the last ten years or so. It's also a bit misnamed, since it isn't a hernia at all.

The injury is actually the tearing away of the muscles in your lower abdomen from the pubic bone. In my case, Dr. Myers said that it was a significant tear. This is not surprising since I go all out in my sporting endeavors.

While my wife and family insist that I got hurt because I'm old, I disagree. It's a "sports" hernia, so that means I'm an athlete right? While I do write about professional sports I do not actually play them. I was actually injured playing beer-league softball. Yes, like I said, I'm a world-class athlete. It takes a special talent to be able to do 12-ounce curls while playing sports. Don't try this at home kids.

So as I write this, two days after the surgery, I am still in a considerable amount of pain. That and the percocet might explain if this article is actually nothing but gibberish. Yes, yes. Please insert your own joke here about how you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. You're a riot.

The recovery time for this surgery is weeks, not months. I was instructed to walk a mile a day starting the day after the surgery. Maybe in a few days I'll be able to break the one hour mile. The physical therapy will begin next week, with a message therapist. No mention of a "Happy Ending" was made, so I assume it's legit. And according to the doctor, I will be back playing my sport within 4-6 weeks.

Since my "sport" isn't professional, I don't exactly have to rush myself back. But I did need to get this surgery so that I could go back to a normal life. This injury prevented me from playing sports with my kids and coaching their teams, like I used to. Now that I've had the surgery everything will be back to normal. Or will it?

Since I now share this procedure with Donovan McNabb, will I suddenly start throwing the ball at my son's feet when we are having a catch? When that happens, will I throw him under the bus by blaming the incompletion on him? Will I blame it on his "youth"? Will I then deny that I said anything negative about him and hold a grudge for years against the people who said that about me? Will I then say that I do not hold grudges, even as I am speaking about the many grudges that I am holding? Will I refer to it as "white-on-white" crime? Will I pout and demand that everyone refer to me as the leader of the team, I mean family? Will I make stupid faces and smile at completely inappropriate times? Will I constantly look like I have an itch on my nose or have to pick a booger every time I talk to a group of people? Will I inexplicably break into an air-guitar show and completely embarrass those around me? Will I begin to gag any time I am near any type of Bowl?

Only time will tell the answers to those questions, but there is one thing I am certain of. No matter how many times a doctor tells you that it is normal, there is nothing normal about your "Twig and Berries" turning black and blue. That's something that Donovan McNabb and I can both agree on.
</intro>

    <intro>
The Philadelphia Eagles were the worst 11-5 team during the 2009 NFL season that I have ever seen. I would have rather had the team go 0-16 and get a top draft pick than have it end the way it did. Wait, check that. I would rather they had gone 2-14 and beaten the Cowboys twice. Memo to Keith Brooking: Shut up you whiny little Bitch. It seemed to me that Romo played every snap of two blowout wins over the Eagles you hypocrite.

I took lots of grief from people this season when I said the Eagles stunk, even when they were winning games. They only beat one team with a winning record all season and that was the 9-7 Falcons, without their starting QB and starting RB. They went 0-5 against the three playoff teams that they faced, the Chargers, Saints and Cowboys (3 times). What I'm trying to say is that the 2009 Eagles were a bad team that needs some serious adjustments to the roster. If you don't think so then go back and watch the tape of the games against the Cowboys.

I will take a look at the team, position by position and give my analysis. Unfortunately the main problem with the team won't change. Andy Reid was given a contract extension even though he has proven to be a terrible head coach and an even worse GM.

Quarterback

The Michael Vick experiment was a monumental failure, but I knew that before the season anyway. I can't believe that some people still think he is a legitimate QB. He stinks and I'm betting you'll see him being the most overrated player in the NFL next season as the QB of the Raiders.

I've already told you why McNabb needs to go. After eleven years, it's time to move on. There are plenty of teams who don't know what a choker he is and don't realize what a terrible teammate he is. I now think there is a great chance he gets traded to Arizona, since Warner is sure to retire and Matt Leinert sucks.

That leaves the Eagles with Kevin Kolb as the starting QB for 2010. Is he the answer? We won't know until he's given a chance. He looked good being the only QB ever to throw for over 300 yards in his first two starts this season, so there is reason for optimism. Plus I think he's is a much better fit for the West Coast Offense than the inaccurate McNabb. A.J. Feeley or Jeff Garcia will be signed as a free agent to be the backup and the Eagles will draft a QB.

Running Back

This group showed some real promise in 2009. LeSean McCoy looks like a good RB who should only get better. If the Eagles don't resign Fullback Leonard Weaver, they are even dumber than I thought. Weaver is the prototypical FB for this offense. He does it all. And "You can't stop the Weave."

There is a problem at RB for the Eagles though. That would be the end of Brian Westbrook's career. Knee injuries and concussions have left us with a shell of possibly the best RB in the history of the franchise. Westbrook was once one of the most feared players in the NFL. Now he looks old and slow. It's unfortunate, but the end comes quickly at the RB position. They'll need to add some depth in the offseason, since the team won't keep a gimpy Westbrook at his $7.5 million salary for 2010. I'll wear my Westbrook jersey to the game when they retire his number 36.

Wide Receiver

Two years ago I couldn't have imagined saying this, but I actually like the Eagles WRs. DeSean Jackson looks like a star. Well, when he's not playing the Cowboys anyway. Jeremy Maclin has had a few plays where he completely punked out by not going for the ball, but he is very talented. Jason Avant is a nice 3rd or 4th WR. And although Kevin Curtis has been hurt, he should be a nice 3rd WR to work in the slot next year. That's the role he excelled in with the Rams.

Tight End

Brent Celek was great this season. He emerged as a legitimate pass-catching threat this season. He'll never be a force as a blocker, but who cares. Backing him up will be Cornelius Engram, who is coming back from his second ACL surgery in two years. I called that one. Third time's a charm? I doubt it.

Offensive Line

This unit was ravaged by injuries, but it still underperformed. I told you almost two years ago that Shawn Andrews was crazy and would never play another game for the Eagles. So far I'm right. His brother Stacy was signed to a big contract to baby-sit Shawn, but he couldn't even get on the field. We don't know if it was due to injury or a lack of talent. We'll find out next year. Winston Justice is better than I thought, but that's not saying much. He was signed to an extension to play RT for years to come. Todd Herremans is a good, solid LG. Nick Cole is a better Guard than Center, but he may need to play Center in 2010. That's because Jamaal Jackson won't be able to play next year. If you don't believe me then maybe you missed Stacy Andrews' season coming back from the same exact injury at almost the same time last year. A draft pick or free agent signing in the interior line is a must. Finally we have the big offseason acquisition, Jason Peters. I thought he was going to be great, but I was sorely disappointed. Peters was injured and ineffective most of the year. The team had eight false start penalties in the last four games and Peters had four of them. He needs to do better in 2010, because at the money he's being paid, there is no other alternative.

Defensive Line

This unit is All-Pro DE Trent Cole and a bunch of other guys. Juqua Parker starts opposite Cole, but he just isn't good enough. The team needs a difference-maker here either through the draft or in free agency. And I'm not talking about signing another bust like Chris Clemens. Victor Abiamiri gets one more chance because Reid never gives up on his draft picks right away, no matter how bad they are. Speaking of wasted draft picks, DT Trevor Laws is so bad he didn't even dress for games the second half of the year. Former first round DT picks Broderick Bunkley and Mike Patterson are decent, but they don't apply any pressure on the QB. An upgrade here wouldn't hurt either. I would like to see a free agent signing since these three prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that Reid is incapable of drafting a great DT.

Linebacker

The injury to Stewart Bradley in training camp was devastating to the defense more because there was nothing behind him than it was about him being a Pro Bowler. Bradley will be back to play MLB every down in 2010, which makes the rest of the unit better. Will Witherspoon will play weakside LB next season and we won't have to worry about him. The problem is the strongside LB position. A major upgrade through draft or free agency is needed. Chris Gocong was finally benched after years of playing out of place. Only Reid could draft a college DE who projected as a pass-rushing LB in a 3-4 defense and try to make him cover TEs. Brilliant! Moise Fokou is a backup. Akeem Jordan and Tracy White are Special Teams players who can play in a pinch. Omar Gaither is just too damn small. Joe Mays is just too damn stupid. And Jeremiah Trotter is just too damn done.

Safety

Not resigning one of the greatest Eagles ever over a few dollars was dumb enough. But not having even a marginal, NFL-caliber replacement for Brian Dawkins was inexcusable. Quintin Demps is a dope and Sean Jones is slow. Macho Harris was drafted as a CB and forced into the lineup at safety. An early round draft pick fills this spot next year. Quintin Mikell missed the leadership that Dawkins provided. Maybe Mikell was just trying to do too much, but he did not have a good year. I still have faith in his abilities though.

Cornerback

Sheldon Brown is a warrior, who plays hurt and is the true leader of this team. He doesn't get enough credit for everything that he does. The opposite of that is Asante Samuel, who is the most overrated player on the team. All he does is take chances trying to jump routes to get interceptions. He actually gives up more big plays than he makes though. I even heard defensive coordinator Sean McDermott say Samuel wasn't doing what he was told by playing press coverage. That's why teams like the Cowboys have such success with the screens to Samuel's side. He gives too big a cushion on every single play. He was a terrible signing. Joselio Hanson didn't play as well after he served his suspension for taking a banned substance. Hmmm. And Ellis Hobbs is a nice backup to have around.

Special Teams

David Akers is among the elite kickers in the NFL, but he simply can't get the ball to the endzone on his kickoffs anymore. Punter Sav Rocca is fine in warm weather or indoors, but absolutely sucks in the cold. An upgrade is needed. The Eagles also fired their Special Teams coach and hired Bobby April, who has a great reputation around the league. That should help the entire unit next season.

Coaching

We're stuck with Reid, since he got a contract extension. That means that we're also stuck with his pass-happy offense that gets shut down by the better teams in the league. In eleven years, he has shown a complete inability to make in-game adjustments and his clock management skills are easily the worst in the NFL. His coordinators didn't shine in 2009 and I don't see any players on this roster getting significantly better under the tutelage of the position coaches. Or maybe that's just because the players that Andy Reid the GM drafts just aren't that good. This situation leaves me with no hope for the future of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Ownership and Front Office

The owner is a Billionaire even though he doesn't actually have a job other than NFL owner. He inherited all his money and never held a real job in his life. He hired his buddy Joe Banner to be the team President and handle the salary cap. Banner is a cheap bastard who was solely responsible for the Dawkins debacle. They talk about being the "Gold Standard", but they don't back it up with anything. They simply want to field a good team every year so the stadium stays filled and the merchandise sells. Winning will only be achieved on their specific terms, which means they will never win a Super Bowl.

Great. Now I'm even more depressed than I was after the playoff game loss. We'll see what the team does in the offseason, but judging from recent history I am not optimistic.
</intro>

    <intro>
I can't take it anymore. I can't take the underperforming in big games. I can't take the stupid antics, like the air guitar before the Cowboys playoff game. I can't take the whining and finger-pointing during press conferences either. I just can't take any more of Donovan McNabb in a Philadelphia Eagles uniform. It's time to move on.

There are those who think I'm crazy for wanting to get rid of a QB of McNabb's caliber, but those people either don't follow the Eagles on a day-to-day basis like we do here in Philly or they are members of the McNabb family. I have many reasons, which I will detail here, but it just comes back to the simple fact that enough is enough. Eleven years of getting close but never getting that ring is enough time for me to know that it just isn't going to happen for the Andy Reid - Donovan McNabb Eagles.

That isn't to say that McNabb might not be able to win a Super Bowl with some other team, it just won't be here. Maybe he finds a team that understands it's not illegal to hand the ball to a RB once in a while and isn't asked to carry the entire team with his arm. Hey, if Trent Dilfer can win a Super Bowl anybody can right? It's also possible that Andy Reid could win a Super Bowl with another QB who is better suited to the West Coast offense, but I seriously doubt that as well. Reid still picks the players that were, in his own words, "beaten by a better team" against the Cowboys, so that's a serious strike against him. That's also a topic for another article.

If I could get rid of Reid and keep McNabb I might actually do that, but since the Eagles signed Reid to a three-year contract extension during the season he isn't going anywhere. Speaking of contract extensions, that is one of the reasons I think McNabb is gone.

The Eagles gave Reid that contract extension because they like stability. Yet when McNabb wanted a contract extension last offseason he didn't get one. All the team did was rework his contract to give him more money this season and next. The team that loves stability wouldn't commit to Donovan McNabb any further than it already had. That speaks volumes about their commitment to McNabb.

I admit that McNabb is a good QB, but he is not a great QB. He just isn't. Let's look at a few numbers that a local writer from the Philadelphia Daily News, named Rich Hoffman uncovered. The general idea is one that I have been touting for years, that McNabb chokes in the big games. Most great QBs play well when their team wins. That's logical enough. When the Eagles win in the playoffs McNabb's QB rating is 92.3. But when the Eagles lose, all of his backers are quick to pin the blame on anyone but McNabb. The truth is, when the Eagles lose in the playoffs McNabb almost always has a bad game.

Here is a list of ten elite QBs with their passer ratings in playoff games that they lose. Keep in mind that these statistics do not include the games played last weekend.

Kurt Warner..............91.6
Drew Brees...............91.5
Tom Brady................79.0
Tony Romo...............75.8
Ben Roethlisberger....74.2
Peyton Manning........70.6
Philip Rivers..............69.0
Brett Favre................68.0
Donovan McNabb.......66.4
Eli Manning...............48.4

A few things jump out at you from this list. One is that six of the ten QBs have won a Super Bowl. I guess that's what makes them elite. The second is that Eli Manning is really lucky that his defense dominated the Patriots and a receiver caught the ball with his helmet. Third, McNabb stinks when the pressure is on. The numbers here don't lie. When the Eagles lose in the playoffs, McNabb has a bad game. QB is the most important position on a football team, so when a QB plays poorly it's tough for his team to win. And judging from this list, you can clearly see that when the Eagles lose in the playoffs McNabb is terrible.

Another favorite stat from the McNabb backers is that he has a 7-5 record in the playoffs. That's nice until you consider that the Eagles were favored in roughly 60 percent of those games. And until the last two years, the Eagles defense was in the upper echelon of the NFL.

Then we need to consider the fact that McNabb is overly sensitive. The man still holds a grudge because a dozen drunks booed him at the draft. Really, that's all there were. Good thing he didn't get drafted by the Jets, whose fans boo every single draft pick. That sensitivity rears its ugly head after every playoff loss as well.

He always claims that he is a leader, but he isn't. The proof of that is the fact that he is constantly throwing his teammates under the bus after big losses. A recent example of this was the NFC Championship game last season, where he said that he got the lead in the 4th quarter but the defense couldn't hold it. Then he was at it again after the week 17 loss to the Cowboys this season that cost the Eagles a bye, when he blamed the loss on the team's youth. After this latest playoff loss he sarcastically took all the blame for the loss, but it was obvious that he didn't mean it. He also said the team had an "outstanding season" by winning 11 games. And he said, 'We didn't win 16 games, I'm sorry for that." What a complete jerk. How can you consider a season to be outstanding when you got your doors blown off in the last week of the season and then in the first round of the playoffs by a division rival. The hated Cowboys, no less. Nobody but the clueless McNabb would have made such a stupid comment. He just doesn't get it.

Another flaw in McNabb's game is his lack of 4th quarter comeback wins in the playoffs. McNabb has only one win in eight such opportunities. One of those losses was to the Cardinals last season in the NFC Championship game, where he blamed the defense for the loss. The problem is that's not the whole truth. Yes, McNabb led the Eagles to a lead in the 4th quarter of that game only to see the Eagles defense give up a TD to the Cardinals, but that wasn't the end of that game. The Eagles got the ball back with four minutes left in the game and McNabb failed to drive the Eagles for the winning score. Reminiscent of his Super Bowl failure, where he literally choked so bad he threw up on the field at crunch time in the 4th quarter.

For some perspective I give you the Green Bay Packers game against the Arizona Cardinals this past Sunday. You may have heard of it. It set the record for the most points scored in a playoff game. It was also a game that Arizona led 21-0, before the Packers tied the game to force overtime. (Don't forget McNabb didn't know that there could be ties in the NFL. Priceless.) Aaron Rogers started off poorly, but got the ball back with, get this, 4 minutes left in the 4th quarter with his team down a TD. His team was down a TD because his defense just gave up a TD after he rallied his team to tie the game. Unlike McNabb, who couldn't get it done, Rogers drove the Packers 71 yards on 7 plays in 3:03 to tie the game. Yes, he was stripped when sacked in OT and the resulting fumble was returned for a game-winning TD for the Cardinals, but that was a fluke play. The point is that Rogers came through in the clutch after his defense gave up a late 4th quarter lead that he had gotten only moments before. And Rogers didn't blame his offensive line or defense for losing the game.

The big question in all of this is; if McNabb isn't the Eagles QB next season, then who is? All three QBs on the Eagles roster are only signed through the 2010 season. Kevin Kolb is still on his rookie contract and the Eagles hold a $5 million option on Michael Vick's contract.

There is no way in hell that Vick is back. It was a stupid idea from the beginning and it never worked. If the Eagles can get even a late round pick for Vick they'll jump on it. I can see the Oakland Raiders and Al Davis being dumb enough to trade the Eagles a draft pick for this overrated piece of human garbage.

Kolb has only played in 2 1/2 games in his entire three-year career. The turd he posted in the second half against the Ravens during the 2008 was beyond bad. He did redeem himself with two starts this season though, where he threw for over 300 yards in each game and went 1-1. Still that doesn't give us enough to know if he is the answer as a legitimate replacement for McNabb. And that's not even the point. The point is that the Eagles need to get better at QB if they want to win a Super Bowl. Is Kolb better? We don't know.

What we do know is that McNabb can't seem to win the big games. I showed you the statistics of how he comes up small in big games. But that doesn't necessarily mean that Kolb will be better. I get that. But the McNabb backers are under the assumption that if the Eagles trade McNabb they will be terrible. We don't know that either. Let's go back to Aaron Rogers for an example.

The Packers forced living legend Brett Favre out of Green Bay because they drafted Rogers and they wanted him to play. Rogers has been putting up stellar numbers so far in his career and although his team lost in the playoffs, it sure as hell wasn't because of him. Rogers looks like a franchise QB.

I bring up Rogers because the Eagles have a similar situation with Kolb. They drafted him as the heir apparent at QB. You don't take a QB as early as the Eagles took Kolb if you plan on him being a career backup, like A.J. Feeley. To make matters worse, during that draft the Eagles traded out of the first round and took Kolb with their first pick in the second round. What's the big deal you say? Well the big deal is that not only did Reid trade with the Cowboys, but the player the Cowboys took with that pick is Anthony Spencer. Maybe you remember Spencer as the guy who dominated Winston Justice the last two weeks. His presence on the other side of DeMarcus Ware is a big reason why the Cowboys defense is so good. If the Eagles don't play Kolb, then they not only wasted the draft pick on him, but also made their most hated rival better.

Finally let's examine Andy Reid's comments that McNabb will be back next season. The morons at ESPN took that lone statement as proof that McNabb is back in 2010. The problem with that is that the next truthful statement to come out of Andy Reid's mouth will be the first. And if you kept listening to what Reid said in the press conference, you'll realize he said many other things. He mentioned how much he thought of Vick and Kolb. He also mentioned how he still had to evaluate the entire team in the offseason.

Reid is a master of talking without actually saying anything. That's what he was doing here. He's not committing to anything until he can assess what the trade value is for all three of his QBs. The truth is that McNabb would get the most in return in terms of draft picks. Now we need to consider what teams might want him.

The St. Louis Rams are the hot rumor to trade for McNabb, because Rams head coach Steve Spagnoulo was a former Eagles coach and offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur was the former QB coach of McNabb with the Eagles. Plus Bulger's career might be over. Other possibilities are the Raiders, Bills, Dolphins, Broncos, Panthers and 49ers.

Trading McNabb just makes too much sense for it not to happen. Plus the Eagles need to improve the team through free agency and the draft. An extra draft pick or two would be great. And even though it looks like 2010 will be an uncapped year in the NFL, the Eagles will not be one of the free-spending teams. The organization wants to win, but only under their specific guidelines. That's why Dawkins is no longer an Eagle. The Eagles front office didn't think he was worth what the Broncos paid him, even though they obviously didn't have any sort of backup plan. If fans want to Eagles to sign free agents, salary will have to be traded away or cut. McNabb is due to make $5 million in base salary in 2010. That will look good to club president Joe Banner coming off the bottom line.

I know that most likely none of this is going to change the mind of the McNabb backers, but the facts are the facts. McNabb isn't a winner. He just isn't. We've seen McNabb not win a Championship for eleven years now and it's time to try something else. I don't know if that will make the team better, but we already know that it isn't working out with McNabb. It's Championship or bust time for the Philadelphia Eagles and McNabb is the bust. Goodbye McNabb. Hello Opportunity.
</intro>

    <intro>
It's not just my opinion anymore. In his postgame newsconference after his team lost to the Dallas Cowboys in the 1st round of the playoffs 34-14, Eagles coach Andy Reid said, "We lost to a better football team."

This loss hurts me more than any other one of the Andy Reid era, with the exception of the Super Bowl loss. Losing to the Cowboys is every Eagles fan's worst nightmare. Their bandwagon jumping Loser fans will now be even more obnoxious. So now I need to figure out whom to blame.

Obviously I'm going to start with Donovan McNabb, since this was his last game as a Philadelphia Eagle. Don't believe me? You'll see. Anyway, McNabb was putrid. Oh sure, his apologists will say that he threw for 230 yards in this game, but I will point out that 51 of those yards came on the Eagles last drive, where the Cowboys were playing a really soft prevent defense and McNabb couldn't even get the gimme TD. He sucked. McNabb officially completed 19 of 37 passes for 230 yards, with 1 TD and 1 INT. But he completed only 4 of 10 passes in the first half for 39 yards, when the Cowboys put the game away with a 27-point 2nd quarter. He also fumbled later in the game.

I knew he was going to have a bad game on his first pass. It was a McNabb Special; a worm-burner. His second pass should have been picked off. It was so bad that even though the Eagles tied the game in the 2nd quarter on a Michael Vick 76-yard TD pass to Jeremy Maclin (Cowboys CB Mike Jenkins fell), McNabb didn't even have a completion at that point in the game. I've seen enough. Time to move on.

There was no running game to speak of again. I understand that the Eagles were way behind in the second half, but Reid only called 11 running plays all game. The problem was that those 11 plays only generated 43 yards. That's not good. I also found it a bit surprising that Brian Westbrook didn't get a single carry in the game. His only touch in the game was a 27 yard reception. I know I said he looked slow last week, but I really hope this isn't the end for Westbrook.

The receivers didn't help much either. Maclin had 7 catches for 146 yards and a TD, helped by that 76-yard TD catch. Too bad he was the lone bright spot. After all his trash-talking before the game DeSean Jackson came up small, even for a man of his stature. 3 catches for 14 yards? Not good.

The offensive line was terrible once again. They didn't open up holes for the running game and gave up four sacks. For those Jason Peters lovers out there who always say I'm wrong to criticize him, I would like to point out that he gave up one of those sacks and was flagged for not one but two false starts. He was not as good as I thought he would be this season.

Of course there will be those who excuse McNabb and Reid and try to blame the loss on the defense. That would be short-sighted. It would also fail to admit the fact the Reid picked every single player on this current roster. Yes, the defense played poorly, but you need to keep in mind that the offense turned the ball over an astounding five times. The defense was also on the field for almost 40 minutes. You can't leave your defense on the field that long, trying to protect a short field all game and expect them to pitch a shutout.

Again, we need to realize that the Dallas Cowboys are just a better team than the Eagles right now. Their offensive line was simply too big and strong for the Eagles smaller defensive line. The Eagles did a decent job of stopping the run early, but the Cowboys just wore them down. Felix Jones ended up with 148 yards, including a 73-yard TD.

The Eagles also couldn't get enough pressure on Cowboys QB Tony Romo (23 for 35, 244 yards and 2 TDs). Even when they did manage to get some pressure on Romo with the blitz, he was able to find the open receiver. At least they didn't sit back like they did the week before.

If you don't think the Eagles were simply beat by a better team, then how about a few stats? In the three games against the Cowboys, the Eagles offense only managed to score 2 TDs and 3 FGs, but managed to turn the ball over six times. That's not luck, that's dominance.

That dominance shouldn't surprise you though. I've been telling you all year that the Eagles were only beating up on the dregs of the NFL. After this loss they went 0-5 against the three playoff teams that they faced this year; New Orleans, San Diego and Dallas. In those five games they were outscored 157-75. Maybe I was right all along huh?

This loss is going to be remembered by every Eagles fan forever. Losing in the playoffs is bad enough, but letting the hated Cowboys win their first playoff game since 1996 is inexcusable.

The Andy Reid - Donovan McNabb Eagles have now gone 11 seasons without wining a Super Bowl. I have been saying for years that they never will and so far I've been right. Reid just got a contract extension, so that means that McNabb is finished in Philly. He's a good QB, but he isn't a Championship QB and that's all that matters anymore.
</intro>

    <intro>
The Eagles could conceivably beat the Cowboys in the first round of the playoffs, but I seriously doubt it. The Cowboys are just the better team right now.

The Eagles have endured some injuries this season, but that isn't an excuse. No team is perfectly healthy at this time of year. No, the Eagles problems are much deeper than that. Not only aren't they as talented as the Cowboys, they also don't match up well against them. The Cowboys regular season sweep seemed to confirm that assertion.

The first game in November was a close 20-16 Cowboys win. The rematch last week in Dallas wasn't so close. That 24-0 butt-kicking exposed everything that is wrong with this Eagles team. They weren't big enough along the line of scrimmage, their star players didn't come through in the clutch and they were completely outcoached. Other than that, how did you enjoy the play Mrs. Lincoln.

The Eagles faithful have nothing but blind hope to go on now. Those who say that it's hard to beat a team three times in a season are simply wrong. Since the NFL-AFL merger in 1970, there have been 19 times when a team went into a playoff game with a chance to complete a three-game season sweep. Those teams completed the sweep in 12 of the 19 games. That's a 63% winning percentage. However, Dallas has lost twice in the playoffs after beating a team twice during the regular season. In 1998 the Cowboys lost to the Cardinals, 20-7 in the playoffs and in 2007 they lost to the Giants 21-17 in the playoffs. That helps explain why the Cowboys haven't won a playoff game since 1996.

While all those stats are nice, they mean nothing to this particular matchup. The stat that really stands out to me in this playoff matchup is the one that says that the Eagles have scored only one TD in 21offensive possessions in the two games this season against the Cowboys. That is just pathetic.

The Eagles offense is ranked 11th overall, but a lowly 22nd in rushing. That is due to a combination of Andy Reid not running the ball and the running backs not doing a great job with those limited chances. Over the last four games the Eagles RBs have only averaged 3.5 yards per carry. That number isn't big enough for Reid to stick with the run, in spite of the mountain of statistical evidence that even this Eagles team is much better when they have a balanced offense. I personally think Brian Westbrook looked slow hitting the hole last week, but maybe he's still trying to get his game back after missing so much time this season. LeSean McCoy seems to have hit the dreaded "rookie wall" hard. And even though "Nobody can stop the Weave", Reid only gave Leonard Weaver one carry last week. Do that again and it will be a brief playoff appearance for the Eagles.

The Eagles passing offense was very good this season, but it relied too much on quick-strike TDs. That's one of the areas where the Eagles don't matchup well with the Cowboys. McNabb has never been accused of being an overly accurate passer, but he does have a big arm. That enables him to get the ball deep to WRs DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin for long TDs. The Cowboys, though, have been able to effectively take the long ball away from the Eagles so far this season. After scoring eight TDs of over 35 yards during the regular season, Jackson was held to only five catches for 76 yards in two games against the Cowboys this season. Cowboys CB Mike Jenkins talked some smack and backed it up last week. And to make matters worse, Jackson aggravated a groin injury. So would that be adding insult to injury, or adding injury to insult? Nevermind. Without much of a running game, the Eagles are not able to sustain long drives, which explains that one TD in 21 possessions against the Cowboys.

The Eagles and McNabb are going to have to take what the Cowboys give them if they hope to score many points. I'm not sure if McNabb has it in him, but his future in Philadelphia could very well depend on it. TE Brent Celek had 7 catches for 96 yards last week against the Cowboys and will need a repeat performance. The Eagles should also rediscover Weaver in the passing game.

Of course, none of that matters if the Eagles offensive line can't protect McNabb and open up a hole every once in a while for the running game. The O-line also has five false start penalties since Nick Cole took over at center for the injured Jamaal Jackson. They did a nice job on All-Pro NT Jay Ratliff and DE DeMarcus Ware last week, but Anthony Spencer abused Eagles RT Winston Justice.

Tony Romo has never won a playoff game because he always made too many mistakes. This season he has turned that all around. He had 26 TDs and 9 INTs during the regular season, including 11 TDs and only 1 INT in the last six games. The big difference is that Romo doesn't get rattled by pressure anymore. That has caused problems for the Eagles. When they blitz, they can normally create havoc. It just hasn't worked out that way against Romo and the Cowboys.

The Cowboys O-line has given Romo enough time against the Eagles blitz to find his open receivers. And he has some good ones in budding star WR, Miles Austin and TE Jason Witten. Austin had seven catches for 90 yards last week against the Eagles and is averaging 106.8 yards per game over the last six weeks. Witten is a perennial Pro-Bowler and the Eagles can't cover even crappy TEs. Add to that the fact that Asante Samuel gambled three times last week and lost twice and I am not confident.

The Eagles LBs are a mess right now. Will Witherspoon is their only LB who doesn't have a major deficiency. Jeremiah Trotter and Chris Gocong are good run-stoppers, but terrible in pass coverage. Akeem Jordan and Moise Fokou are better in pass coverage, but a little too light to be effective run-stoppers. This is not a good situation.

The Cowboys offense is ranked 2nd overall because they have a perfect balance between the run (7th) and the pass (6th). Andy should take notes.

Last week Cowboys RBs Marion Barber and Felix Jones each had 91 yards rushing, in the Eagles worst performance stopping the run all season. If they can't find a way to slow down the Cowboys running attack, this game will look just like the 24-0 blowout. I expect them to use the beefier LBs, Trotter and Gocong, more often in this game.

Jackson led the NFL in punt return average (15.2), but he has that groin injury and has been held in check by the Cowboys. Patrick Crayton is also a dangerous return man for the Cowboys, but the Eagles coverage teams have done well against him. The Cowboys kicking game kept the Eagles pinned deep in their own zone last game with good punts and four touchbacks in five attempts.

Normally you would assume Andy Reid's 7-0 record in his first playoff game each year would give him the edge in a coaching matchup, but he just got outcoached by Wade Philips last week. Think about that for a second. I have and now I'm depressed. This might be the best team that Philips has ever coached and his best chance to get the first postseason win of his career. Eagles defensive coordinator Sean McDermott had a brain fart last week in calling off the blitz when the Cowboys running attack got big yardage early against the blitz. Jim Johnson never would have backed off.

I'm not looking at any trends in this game except the one that shows me that the Cowboys have handled the Eagles this season. I just don't see the Eagles changing the previous outcomes unless they play a near perfect game and the Cowboys make a few mistakes. Losing to the Cowboys three times in a season and ending their playoff win drought is my worst nightmare. Or more accurately, having to deal with Douchebag Cowboys fans if they win this game is my worst nightmare.

They say that on any given Sunday, any team can beat another. Too bad for the Eagles, this game is on Saturday night. Cowboys 27 - Eagles 20.
</intro>

    <intro>
The young guys on the Philadelphia Eagles aren't exactly singing, "The wheels on the bus go round and round." Not after their own quarterback threw them under the bus.

Yes, our old friend Donovan McNabb is back to his old ways of not accepting any of the blame when things go wrong. Here is exactly what McNabb said after the Eagles humiliating 24-0 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.

"We showed our youth, in situations where everyone began to look around to see who was going to make a play, rather than stepping up and making that play. That's something that comes with the territory, when you have a young group."

DeSean, Jeremy, say hello the undercarriage of the bus. The wheels on the bus go round and round indeed. All over their heads, courtesy of their pathetic loser of a QB. WRs DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin may not have had a great game, but they didn't deserve that.

That is a textbook case of what you don't say about your teammates. You especially don't say that if you are the QB of a team. And you really shouldn't be saying crap like that when you are constantly telling everybody that you are the leader of the team. The jury rests its case against McNabb being the leader of the team.

I have given McNabb a break throughout most of this season, because he has played well. Of course, when you're beating up on the worst the NFL has to offer week after week, it's easy to take all the credit. Leaders emerge when things go wrong. McNabb said "...everyone was looking around to see who was going to make a play...". Hey Donnie, maybe as the QB, that should have been you making a play, Douchebag. Or how about if you're really the leader of the team, you lead those young players when they are looking around? It's what winning QBs do.

McNabb did neither of those things. That's why he isn't a winner and never will be. All he did was overthrow, underthrow and throw behind wide open receivers all day. Then he has the audacity to rip the very receivers who managed to get open? That's just pathetic.

At this time I must point out that Jeremy Maclin made one of the Wussiest, Punk-Ass moves I have ever seen. At the end of the game McNabb threw possibly the best pass he threw all game. He dropped a perfect pass over a CB and a closing safety, right where Maclin could catch it in the endzone. Only, Maclin took his eyes off the ball for a full five seconds and never looked back up for the ball. You see, he was watching that safety closing in, making sure that he wouldn't get hit. If he even gave half an effort for the ball it would have been a TD. But he didn't and it was possibly the most gutless play you will ever see on a football field. It reminded me of the infamous Todd Pinkston "alligator arm", "I lost the ball in the lights" move. Yes, it was that bad. Fox showed it a few times and even Troy Aikman and Joe Buck commented on how sad the effort was. Jeremy, you just got Punked by Joe Buck. "Duuuuude." It doesn't get any worse than that you little Bitch.

OK, so McNabb or one of Maclin's other teammates should have gotten in his face, but it shouldn't have been done in public. And it definitely shouldn't have been said to the media. If you say that McNabb never named Maclin and Jackson specifically, then please tell me who else he could have possibly been talking about when he said "youth"? Rookie LeSean McCoy got one friggin carry thanks to the genius that is Andy Reid.

McNabb isn't a leader. And he also isn't a winner. He comes up small every time in the biggest games. His 1-5 record in NFC Championship Games and the Super Bowl prove that point. The one win? Well that was the game where that little Bitch, Michael Vick quit the second he got off the bus in the cold of Philadelphia in 2004. I was there and it was obvious. So While McNabb technically gets a win there, he certainly wasn't the one who led the team to the victory. No, when McNabb got the chance to lead his team to victory that season, he literally choked on the field in Jacksonville during the Super Bowl.

McNabb will never win a Championship because he just doesn't have it in him. He might be a more gifted passer that Ben Roethlisberger, but Big Ben has won a few Super Bowls. McNabb might have a bigger arm than Eli Manning, but Eli got hot enough to stop making stupid mistakes and ride a dominant defense to a Super Bowl title himself. McNabb can't do that. When the pressure really starts to grow, McNabb becomes the New York Mets of the NFL and chokes.

Then he'll do something like he did here and throw his teammates under the bus, instead of taking any of the blame on himself. None of his teammates could possibly have an ounce of respect left for him now. McNabb is trying to backtrack on the comments and say they were taken out of context. No, sorry Donnie. I saw the full press conference and read the transcripts. You said it and you showed everyone exactly why you will never be a winner. I'm just glad that you will be choking for some other team next year.

Since the Eagles gave Andy Reid that ridiculous extension, it will be McNabb that is made the scapegoat for yet another season without a Championship. As recently as a week ago, I would have said that was unfair. After what he just did to his teammates, I say it's time to move on. We've seen this act before and it's getting old. We don't know if Kevin Kolb can win a Championship, but we definitely know that McNabb can't. He just doesn't have it in him. Maybe he left it on the field in Jacksonville.
</intro>

    <intro>
It’s a blessing in disguise to the fact that we lost the game against the Cowboys, and now we have to turn around and play them again in the first round of the playoffs.

I think it works to our advantage because it is very hard to beat a team twice in the same season yet alone two weeks in a row. Plus I love being the underdog; you can always come out and surprise people that way. Because they beat us up pretty good, the Cowboys confidence may be too high which could help us in this game.

It is a divisional rival and we definitely have revenge on our minds and we plan on playing our hearts out and winning the game that really counts, in the playoffs.

Personally, this season I have dealt with adversity, hoping that I would have started more games, but I did what the team needed me to do and stepped it up when I was called upon. Overall I have enjoyed the season, even through all of the ups and downs. It’s a part of playing football in the NFL and you just have to deal with it and do whatever you can to help the team win from week to week.

The second season is here and this is where we have to crank it up another notch and give it everything we have. Because if we don’t, the season will be over and we will all go home, and we definitely do not want that.

We still are taking it one game at a time and hopefully the team will play its heart out and come away with a victory and send the Cowboys home for the winter.

As far as the college bowl games, all that I really cared about is that Georgia won their game 44-21 against Texas A&M. That was a pleasurable game to watch.

Go Eagles!

Max Jean-Gilles is an offensive lineman with the Philadelphia Eagles. <intro>
What came first, the Chicken or the (Goose) Egg the Eagles just laid against the Cowboys?

The Eagles got their asses handed to them in embarrassing fashion in a 24-0 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. That means that the Cowboys win the NFC East and the teams will play again next week in the same stadium in the first round of the playoffs. I've never been so pissed off about making the playoffs in my life. But that's a discussion for another day. We need to pick over this dead carcass of a game first.
The Eagles defense couldn't stop the Cowboys running game as both Marion Barber and Felix Jones rushed for 91 yards each. Barber had 58 yards on the Cowboys opening TD drive, in a sign of what was to come. The defense also couldn't stop Tony Romo, who completed 24 of 34 passes for 311 yards, with 2 TDs and 1 INT. Maybe that's because he had all day in the pocket to find open receivers. And when he did find them, Sheldon Brown and Asante Samuel took turns biting hard on fakes and giving up big plays. They couldn't contain yet another TE. Jason Witten had 6 catches for 76 yards and a TD.

The Eagles also couldn't generate any offense whatsoever. Donovan McNabb was putrid. He completed 20 of 36 passes for 223 yards and a fumbled snap. He missed wide open receivers repeatedly, including both DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin (who totally punked out on the last play when he didn't even go for a pass as he was about to get hit. Todd Pinkston anyone?) for sure TDs. Part of that was due to the fact that the Eagles offensive line played terribly. They gave up four sacks and had two false start penalties that I can remember. One was of course on Jason Peters. The line only enabled the running game to generate 3.7 yards per carry too. But that stat is a bit deceiving.

It's deceiving because Andy Reid completely abandoned the run again. It was just a matter of time before that big fat dope reverted to his passaholic ways, but this was ridiculous. The Eagles called 38 passing plays and only 8 running plays. That shouldn't even be possible. I guess that would explain why the Eagles had the ball for less than 20 minutes during the game. For those Andy Reid butt-munchers out there who will say that the Eagles couldn't run the ball because they were behind the entire game, I will point out that they ran the ball only five times the entire first half, when the game was still close. I will also point out that you are an idiot. Please remove your head from Andy Reid's ass and try to catch a glimpse of reality for a change.

Andy also proved once again that he is the worst game-day coach in the NFL. He didn't make any in-game adjustments, when it was obvious that his game plan wasn't going to work. If he actually made any adjustments, then that's even worse since the Eagles got shut out. He even called the dumbest timeout I have ever seen. Andy called a timeout when the Eagles were going to punt, instead of simply taking a delay of game penalty for five yards. Other, smart coaches, take that five yard penalty on purpose when they are inside the opposing team's 50 yard line to give their punter more room to punt. Not our Andy. He's a friggin genius remember? When questioned about it after the game he said he didn't want to give up any yards. What a complete idiot.

Andy was also as arrogant as ever. During his postgame newsconference he was asked if he thought about taking McNabb out of the game in the 4th quarter, since it was all but over. He smirked, laughed a condescending laugh and said "no". That is a perfect example of why I hate Andy Reid. I guess he didn't see New England's Wes Welker getting injured today in a meaningless game for the Patriots. Dope.

I took lots of notes on this game and had all sorts of game stats ready, but why bother. I'd much rather just rant about an Eagles team that showed absolutely no heart in getting humiliated today. Instead of getting the second seed and a first round bye, the Eagles will have to play the Cowboys in Jerry Jones' new billion dollar playpen again next week.

The Eagles finished the regular season 11-5, but that was due to one of the easiest schedules ever. If you don't believe me, then consider that the Eagles played only four games against playoff teams all season (including the Cowboys twice) and lost all four games. Also, considering that the Eagles have now scored one TD in 21 possessions in the two games this season against the Cowboys, is there anybody who actually believes that this season isn't already over? Anybody? Put your hand down Andy. We're going to PASS on your vote.
</intro>

    <intro>
What could possibly be better than two bitter division rivals playing on the last weekend of the NFL season with the division title on the line? Did I mention that if the Eagles win they also would get the #2 seed and a first round bye in the playoffs? What about the fact that if the Cowboys win they would have swept the season series and there is a strong possibility that the Eagles would have to go right back to the Cowboys new stadium for a first round playoff game? This game has it all.

As I said, the Cowboys already beat the Eagles earlier this season, 20-16 in Philly. But don't forget how the Eagles stomped the Cowboys on the last weekend of last season 44-6. That game kept the Cowboys out of the playoffs, so you know it hurt.

As simplistic as it sounds, this game will be won or lost on the lines. It's an old football cliche, but it's true for this game. If the Eagles revamped offensive line can't win the battle at the line of scrimmage, the Eagles don't have a prayer of winning the game.

The Eagles line has been in a state of flux all season with various injuries, but it was beginning to jell in the last six games, not coincidentally all wins. But now center Jamaal Jackson was lost for the season with a knee injury. That means that right guard Nick Cole, who has never started any of his 23 NFL games at center, will slide over to take his place. That also means that slow-footed Max Jean-Gilles will be replacing Cole at RG. Funny, but didn't the Eagles spend a ton of money on a free agent guard? Stacy something? Oh well, must have been my imagination.

That would be a major adjustment for the Eagles under normal circumstances, but these are not normal circumstances. The Eagles have to face the Cowboys and the best nose tackle in the NFL, Jay Ratliff. In the first meeting, Ratliff had two sacks, two hurries and eight tackles. He is not your typical NT. He totally dominates in the middle. The Eagles will have to give Cole help with Ratliff, but as I said Jean-Gilles is kinda slow. That in turn will lead to more one-on-one matchups for the Cowboys OLBs on the Eagles tackles. Winston Justice and Jason Peters have played well during the winning streak, but now they'll have to deal with Anthony Spencer and DeMarcus Ware.

The Cowboys are ranked 12th overall defensively and 5th against the run. Ratliff has a lot to do with that. If the Eagles O-line can't open up some holes for the running game, the Cowboys defense will be able to tee off on QB Donovan McNabb. Plus the Eagles have only averaged 3.4 yards per carry against 3-4 defenses, like the Cowboys, this season.

So that might just mean that Andy Reid will go completely pass-happy against the Cowboys 21st ranked pass defense. McNabb wasn't able to exploit the Cowboys in the first matchup this season and, in fact, the Cowboys were able to completely shut down his #1 target. In the November 8th game, DeSean Jackson was held to only 2 catches for 29 yards. Now Cowboys CB Mike Jenkins is talking smack about how they won't let Jackson get by them for long gains this game either. The Eagles O-line needs to give McNabb time to set up in the pocket to find Jackson and his other receivers or this one will get ugly for the men in green.

Normally a game in December or January against the Cowboys would be almost a guaranteed win. Not so much anymore. The Cowboys, and especially QB Tony Romo, have seemingly exorcised their late season demons. The Cowboys went 2-2 in December and Tony Romo's stellar play was a major reason why. Entering 2009 Romo had been 5-9 as a starter after December 1, with 14 TDs and 19 INTs. Now, Romo has averaged 309.8 yards per game, with seven TDs and only one INT in the last four December games. The yards and TDs are nice, but it's the INTs that really stand out.

That shows that Romo is maturing as a QB. His INTs are way down and his sacks are up this season. That shows that he's willing to pull the ball down rather than take unnecessary chances. But he's still dangerous when he's running around creating plays with his feet. The Eagles need to contain Romo with their pass rush. He was sacked four times against the Eagles in November, but still threw for 307 yards and got the win. I'm sure defensive coordinator Sean McDermott has a few new blitzes ready for Romo this time around.

The Cowboys offense is ranked 3rd overall, 8th rushing and 6th passing. That means that they keep things balanced. Are you paying attention Andy? (Eagles are ranked 10th overall, but 21st rushing and 9th passing. Obviously not.)

Dallas uses a three-headed monster at RB, with Marion Barber for the tough yards, Felix Jones as the outside threat and Teshard Choice as the overall guy. It seems to be working, as the Cowboys are 2nd in the league in yards per carry (4.8). Luckily the Eagles are doing a good job of stuffing the run this season (ranked 8th).

When the Cowboys try to throw the ball, they will have one big problem. That would be DE Trent Cole. He uses and abuses Cowboys LT Flozell Adams on a regular basis. Cole has 12 1/2 sacks this season, but the Cowboys have only allowed 10 sacks in their last 5 games. Something has to give here.

When Romo gets time he will be looking to WR Miles Austin and TE Jason Witten. Austin is the deep threat, averaging 8 catches for 110 yards over the last 5 games and Witten works the underneath. I'm sure Asante Samuel will get burned for a long gainer while biting on a pump-fake, going for an INT too. He's exciting and frustrating all at the same time. The bigger problem for the Eagles will be covering Witten. The Eagles haven't been able to cover TEs all year and Witten is one of the best.

On special teams we have the #1 (Jackson) and #2 ( Cowboys Patrick Crayton) punt returners in the NFL. Throw in the fact that Eagles kick returner Macho Harris fumbled twice in the last game and this could be a very exciting game for the special teams.

Andy Reid's teams always play better later in the regular season. Wade Phillips is just a figurehead for Jerry Jones and has a terrible late-season record. Both have their teams playing well going into this game though.

The Eagles have more on the line in this game, since they can actually get a first round bye as the #2 seed with a win. The Cowboys could also win the division with a win and have a possible rematch next week in the playoffs against an Eagles team they would have beaten twice already.

Both teams have plenty of motivation. Both teams are looking for revenge. Both teams are playing at a high level right now. I want the Eagles to win, because I want a home playoff game. Is that enough?

Normally I would assume that Andy Reid blows this one, just like he does in most of his big games (1-5 in NFC Championship games and the Super Bowl), but there isn't as much pressure on the team here. Both teams are already in the playoffs, so there isn't the same amount of pressure as there is in the playoffs. I see the Eagles winning a close one 23-20. I mean, I could use a little break anyway.
</intro>

    <intro>

Every NFL team lets its players vote for one of their teammates as the Ed Block Courage Award recipient. Who is Ed Block and what is this award you ask? Ed Block received the Purple Heart while serving in World War II under General George S. Patton and then became the head athletic trainer for the old Baltimore Colts franchise. He advocated for education and certification among athletic trainers and he donated his time and expertise to help disabled children in the community.

According to the Ed Block Courage Award Foundation website:

Each year, the Ed block Courage Awards honors those NFL players who exemplify commitments to the principles of sportsmanship and courage. Recipients are selected by their teammates for team effort, as well as individual performance. The award recipient symbolizes professionalism, great strength and dedication. He is also a community role model.

In other words, Michael Vick. Or at least that's what the brain-dead Jackasses on the Philadelphia Eagles think. Apparently the Eagles players unanimously voted Vick as the Ed Block Courage Award recipient for the team. I, for one, couldn't be more appalled. It is an insult to the other 31 players who won the award and to the Ed Block Courage Award Foundation itself.

I feel like I'm Charlie Brown and the Eagles are Lucy, pulling the ball away as I try to kick it. "AAUGH"

Other teams actually voted for a deserving player. The Baltimore Ravens voted for safety Dawan Landry, who was nearly paralyzed last season, but has come back with four INTs and a TD this season. How about Chicago Bears defensive lineman Israel Idonije, who has a foundation promoting education and staying in school for at-risk youths and who travels to Africa to provide college scholarships. That was good enough for his Bears teammates to give him the award. The Cleveland Browns voted for Mike Furrey based on his extensive volunteer work in the community. Or how about Jacksonville Jaguars left tackle Richard Collier, who was the victim of a drive-by shooting last year? Collier's teammates recognized his that even though he was paralyzed and lost a leg, he never gave up. They thought that was a perfect example of "courage". So do I.

But the Eagles players voted for a guy who has done nothing meaningful with his life except sign huge contracts. Vick received preferential treatment in high school as an athlete, then received a full scholarship to Virginia Tech. After his sophomore season there, he signed a six-year $62 million contract after the Falcons made him the first pick in the draft. The Falcons then tore that contract up four years later and made him the highest paid player in the NFL, at the time in 2004, with a $130 million contract.

We all know about the despicable details of Vick's dogfighting operation, but he was a dirtbag of a human being long before that. Remember the water bottle with the hidden compartment in the airport? Remember when he flipped off his own team's fans after a loss to the New Orleans Saints in the Georgia Dome in 2006? How about the whole "Ron Mexico" ordeal, where he was going around giving innocent women herpes? Yeah, he's a real "role model" isn't he? The very definition of professionalism right?

The only community service Michael Vick has ever done in his life was court ordered as a provision of his parole. That doesn't exactly sound like what the Ed Block Foundation has in mind for its award recipients.

What the hell were the Eagles' players thinking? Maybe they weren't thinking. How could they have been? Vick's own words show him to be a completely delusional scumbag. While Idonije said about the award: "It's an honor, but there are a lot of people that come together to make all the good stuff happen within the community." Or Mike Furey who said, "I don't think it's something I deserve."

Meanwhile, Vick had a different take on receiving the award. He said, "I've had to overcome a lot, probably more than one single individual can handle or can bear. You take a look at what I've been through, you ask certain people to walk in my shoes, they probably couldn't do it. Probably 95 percent of the people in this world - because nobody had to endure what I've been through, situations I've been put in."

Holy Crap! I want to treat this waste of human life like he treated all those dogs that he tortured and killed. Vick just doesn't get it. He's never expressed any real remorse. He's not sorry for what he did. He's only sorry that he got caught. After all this time and everything that has happened, all that he got from the whole experience is that he's the victim? How is that possible?

But the bigger question is, how could the Eagles players be so stupid? How could they vote for him as the winner of an award based on courage? What courage? We have obviously found either the 53 dumbest human beings on the planet or the 53 most out-of-touch. I know millionaire athletes can't really identify with the average fan, but this is ridiculous. Maybe it should be 54 out-of-touch dopes since Eagles coach Andy Reid said, "I don't expect everyone to understand." Really Andy? You think? Why don't you try to explain to us? After all you're the one who signed Vick to make his return to the NFL. This all makes me embarrassed to be an Eagles fan.

Is it courageous of Vick to answer legitimate questions about his federal crimes? It is courageous of him to make the same speech that was obviously written for him, a total of two or three times as part of the NFL plan to repair his tainted image? Was it courageous to admit guilt when all of Vick's "friends" turned on him, after initially lying to everyone about his involvement? Was it courageous of Vick to not dedicate himself to his profession throughout his entire career, as he now admits? Was it courageous of Vick to kill innocent animals and run an illegal gambling operation?

I say no. The players on the Philadelphia Eagles apparently say yes. To them and anyone else who thinks that Michael Vick is deserving of this award for courage I say, you are a BLOCKhead.
